The Matrix Has My Brother

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you are playing out a scene in a movie, through no intention of your own? I found myself in that situation last night.

My brother The General, the finished playing Knights of The Old Republic on the Xbox and was ready for a new game. At the request of our friend Big Neo (he's called Big Neo for a reason), my brother purchased The Matrix Online.

As he installed it, he started to create his avatar for the game, his residual self-image for all you online geeks. The he "jacked in" to the Matrix game, locating a server and becoming an active particpate of this little online world. Some where in this game was Big Neo, but my brother had no idea where. "You want to call him?" I asked.

"Yeah, probably," he responded.

"I'll get your cellphone for ya." I told him.

I stood up and proceeded to walk 0ut of the office to retrieve his cellphone. I then stopped and started laughing at my insane moment. The fact that I was getting his cellphone reminded me of when, in The Matrix, when Morpheus asked Apoc Are we online? and Cypher immediatley slaps a cellphone in his hand. "I can't believe I am doing this." I laugh, wondering how this is any different.

My brother proceeded to laugh hysterically when he caught the exact same reference. After my laughing bout, I just sighed, "Oh, my God, what I am doing?"

I got his cellphone for him anyway. But it was a strange and amusing moment.
