The Simple Things
For the past few days, I've been under a ton of stress. I don't need to explain this to my friends that work with me, cause they are under the exact same stress. But yesterday, there was a breif moment that brought back fond memories.
Before I made it to work, I stopped by a gas station to get me one of those new Coke Zeros. I always park on the side parking lot. As I got out, I took notice of the small raging river before me. Near the ditch to the main road was a concrete rain-run off and it had rained heavily the previous night; making the water zoom away in the ditch. I walked over to observe it for a few moments.
Then as I looked at the small rabids, I saw an empty water bottle in the ground at my feet. I couldn't resist.
I picked up the water bottle and threw it into the ditch with the raging water. Sure enough, the bottle sailed down through the ditch like a small raft. I even followed it, like a ten year old boy, laughing the whole time. I followed it till it floated away in the giant puddle at the end of the runoff.
It was silly.
Maybe even a little stupid.
But remembering such simple times brought a smile to my face and that was more than enough.
