Call After Call After Call

"I need my report to do this." said the customer.

"Ma'am, it can't do that. The procedure is not in the design specs." I tell her.

"Oh, that's shame. But when the auditors come, they'll want that information. Does the Paycheck Journal do it?"

"No, ma'am. No such report does it. If you want the balances in, you must create an entry to impact the reports."

"Oh, I see. Okay, well, how about the Payroll Register?"

"No, ma'am."

"The Paycheck Tracker Report?"

"It doesn't do it cause there is no such report, ma'am."

"Oh, I am sorry to hear that. I could have used it. Maybe the Hours Tracker does it?"

"Hours Tracker? Ma'am, we don't make up our reports as we go along."

"Oh, you're so knowledgable. So which report does it again?"

I've been doing my best for the past hour to tell her the report she wants can't be created. She doesn't have any export programs to do it outside the software. Then I finally confess to her.

"Yeah, ma'am, there is a report that says the balances."

"EXCELLENT! Where is it?"

"It's called The Hours That Be report. We don't make it. One of our Primary Centers do. I'll give you their number."

"Oh, thank you, sir." the customer giggles.

I need a drink.
