Recovery
I slowly open my eyes, feeling a massive pain my neck. I reach up and gently touch the bandages on my neck. Looks like someone sealed the wound where I was cut with the AOL CD.
I look around and realize I am in the Call Center Medical Ward. The cries of pain and the moans of agony can be heard down the halls from the tech who were wounded in the Peak Season. Over across the way, Iron Lung is rested on a bed with a bandaged arm and leg. Big Stan is sitting upright with, munching on food like he hadn't eaten in three hours. "You okay, Big Stan?" I whisper.
"Oh, Jason! You're awake!" he says with a mouthfull of country fried steak, "Thanks for saving my life, man."
"No problem." I whisper. It hurts to talk.
"No, talking, Jason. You must heal your neck." I hear a voice tell me to my right.
A familair looking nun comes up to me with a steaming coffee cup. It's Mother Sandi, who helped me to survive three Peak Season's ago. I take the coffee and realize it's tea. "It'll heal your throat." she smiles.
"Thank you, Mother Sandi." I smile.
She kneels beside me and we say a silent prayer together. This has been one of the more crueling days of peak seaon. I am glad I lived through it.
Sandi leaves me to help the rest of her charges. I slowly sip my tea, wondering how Kane and the others are.
